2. The Competition

These Terms and Conditions, together with the Privacy and Cookie Policy and any competition-specific details published on the website or app, set out the full agreement between the Promoter and each entrant in relation to competitions listed on PrizeRunner.com and any related app.

If there is any inconsistency between these documents, the order of priority will be:

  • the relevant competition-specific details;
  • these Terms and Conditions;
  • the Privacy and Cookie Policy.

If any clause is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, that will not affect the remaining provisions.

An entry fee is payable for each entry made using the online route, including entries made through recurring billing. A free postal entry route is also available. Anyone entering through either route is referred to as an Entrant in these Terms.

3. How to Enter

Each draw-based competition will run from the time it is published until the closing date shown on the website or app. These are referred to as the Published Date and Closing Date.

All dates and times are based on London, England time.

Where necessary due to circumstances outside the Promoter’s control, and where fairness requires it, the Promoter may:

  • amend a Closing Date; or
  • correct an incorrectly displayed Published Date.

Any changes will be shown on the website/app and entrants will be notified by email.

Entries must be received:

  • no earlier than the Published Date; and
  • no later than the stated Closing Date and time.

Entries received outside that period may be disqualified without refund.

Postal entries received within 72 hours after the Closing Date will not be entered into that competition, but the entrant may instead receive site credit equal to the online entry cost for use on another competition.

3.4 To Enter Online

  • choose the number of entries;
  • complete checkout and submit the online form;
  • make payment and receive confirmation.

3.4.2 Instant Win Competitions

  • go to the website/app and choose the relevant Instant Reveal Promotion;
  • select the number of entries;
  • complete checkout and submit the entry;
  • make payment to finalise entry;
  • reveal the outcome using the mechanic shown for that promotion.

The outcome is predetermined and cannot be influenced by the entrant.

All entries must be submitted in English. Entries in any other language may be disqualified without refund.

The Promoter will confirm receipt of entry:

  • for draw-based and instant win competitions, ticket numbers will be sent by email;
  • for instant reveal promotions, confirmation of entry will be provided.

The Promoter is not responsible for entries that are:

  • lost;
  • incomplete;
  • delayed; or
  • not successfully processed for any reason, including technical failures.

By purchasing entries, registering an account and submitting an entry, you are entering into a contract with the Promoter and agreeing to these Terms.

3.4.4 Collections and Series

  • Within the prize pool for each game will exist cards with a star rating from 1-5*, Winning outcomes are set before the promotion launches.
  • These cards can be won and make a contribution to a collection in the series and will be allocated to the correct collection automatically.
  • Each collection has ten cards required to win the prize allocated for that collection.
  • Once a collection or series has been completed, a true skill question must be answered correctly to redeem.
  • The promoter reserves the right to withhold a collection or series prize until satisfied it has been obtained genuinely.
  • Only one of each collection and series prize per person.
  • The promoter may request identification which must match the name on the user account.
  • Collections and Series are bound by all other terms and conditions.

3.5 Postal Entries

Postal entries are permitted subject to the following:

  • entries must be sent on an unenclosed postcard by first or second class post to Suite 165069, PO Box 7169, Poole, BH15 9EL;
  • the postcard must include:
  • full name;
  • address;
  • contact telephone number and email address;
  • chosen competition;
  • if entering an Instant Win Competition or Instant Reveal Promotion by post, you must have created an account on the website/app before the entry is received;
  • incomplete or illegible entries may be disqualified;
  • multiple free entries are permitted up to any stated entry cap, but each one must be posted separately;
  • bulk submissions will count only as a single entry;
  • by entering, you confirm that you are eligible and accept these Terms;
  • valid postal entrants to a draw-based competition will receive ticket confirmation by email;
  • valid postal entries for Instant Win Competitions or Instant Reveal Promotions may result in site credit equal to the online entry price;
  • a registered account is required for postal entries to be processed, and the details on the postcard must match the account details.

4. Recurring Billing and Auto-Entry

The Promoter may offer recurring billing so entrants can purchase discounted credits automatically for entry into future competition periods.

Recurring billing may be:

  • weekly;
  • bi-monthly; or
  • monthly,

depending on the option selected.

By choosing recurring billing, you authorise the Promoter to:

  • collect the entry fee automatically at the selected interval; and
  • Where required, allocate entries on your behalf.

Confirmation of each recurring entry will be sent by email.

Recurring billing can be cancelled at any time through your account settings.

If payment fails, the Promoter is not required to allocate entries for that cycle.

Recurring entries are treated in the same way as one-off paid entries and remain subject to these Terms.

For Instant Win Competitions and Instant Reveal Promotions, recurring billing means entries may be automatically allocated into each new promotion period at the chosen billing interval. Outcomes are fixed in advance and may be revealed during the relevant promotion period.

5. Choosing Winners and Allocating Outcomes

5.1 Draw-Based Competitions

All valid entrants are entered into the draw and assigned one or more ticket numbers.

The winner is selected on the published Draw Date using a provably fair, cryptographically verifiable random number generator. The Promoter operates the draw under a commit–reveal protocol:

  • Before the draw, the Promoter generates a secret using a cryptographically secure random source and publishes the SHA-256 hash of that secret. This commitment binds the Promoter to one specific value and cannot be altered afterwards.
  • When entries close, a canonical snapshot of every sold ticket is taken and hashed, locking the pool of eligible entries.
  • At the draw, a deterministic seed is derived from the secret, the locked entry snapshot, and the attempt number, and a winning ticket number is produced using HMAC-SHA256 with rejection sampling to guarantee an unbiased, uniform selection across the eligible range.
  • After the draw, the Promoter publishes the secret together with the full audit record so any third party can independently re-derive the winner using the public verifier. All draws can be re-run by anyone via our public verification page: https://prizerunner.com/rng/verify/

For live draws, the draw is computed in advance and held privately until the announced draw time, at which point the result and the full audit record are published. Entry lists and ticket allocations may be displayed visually during a live draw, but the published cryptographic audit is the authoritative record of the outcome.

If a draw is disrupted, produces an inconclusive result, or selects a ticket number that has not been sold, the Promoter will run a further attempt using a freshly derived seed. Each attempt is recorded and independently verifiable.

5.2 Instant Win Competitions

All valid entrants are assigned tickets.

Winning ticket numbers are selected before the competition opens, using a cryptographically secure random source (secrets.SystemRandom), and committed to the database before any entry is sold. The set of winning numbers is therefore fixed for the lifetime of the competition and cannot be influenced by entry timing or volume.

End-of-competition prize winners (where applicable) are selected by the draw-based method described in section 5.1.

5.3 Instant Reveal Promotions

Winning outcomes are determined and committed before the promotion launches.

Each entrant's outcome is allocated at the point of entry using a cryptographically secure random process. Online entrants reveal their result immediately through the on-site mechanism; postal entrants have the entry applied to their account on receipt and may reveal the result via their dashboard.

The reveal animation or game is purely presentational and does not influence the outcome — the result is fixed at the moment of entry.

For entry help, contact: Legal@PrizeRunner.com

5.4 How Draws Are Conducted

Live draws. The winning ticket is computed in advance using the provably fair process described in 5.1 and held privately until the announced draw time. Any visual or ceremonial element of the live draw is presentational; the published cryptographic audit record is the definitive outcome. If the result drawn does not correspond to a sold ticket, a further attempt is automatically run from a freshly derived seed until a valid sold ticket is selected. Every attempt — successful or not — is recorded and publicly verifiable.

Automated draws. Winners are selected by the same algorithm used for live draws: a deterministic HMAC-SHA256 generator with rejection sampling, seeded by a pre-committed secret bound to a locked snapshot of all sold entries. After the draw the secret and full audit record are published so the outcome can be reproduced and verified independently by any third party.

In short: live and raffle draws use pre-commitment and a reproducible RNG because tickets are sold before the outcome is determined, whereas instant-win competitions fix the winning ticket numbers before a single ticket is sold and then assign tickets to entrants in a random order — so in neither case is it possible for the Promoter to influence the outcome or the underlying randomness.

6. Eligibility

Competitions are open to persons aged 18 or over who are resident in any country where it is lawful for them to enter and for the Promoter to operate the competition and award the prize, excluding:

  • employees of the Promoter;
  • employees of agents or suppliers professionally connected to the competition;
  • immediate family members or members of the same household of those persons.

By entering, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and may be required to provide evidence of eligibility.

If requested information is not provided within 21 days, the Promoter may:

  • disqualify the entrant; and
  • select another winner.

Entries will not be accepted where they are:

  • automatically generated;
  • submitted by agents, third parties or syndicated arrangements;
  • incomplete.

The Promoter may disqualify an entrant if it reasonably believes that:

  • these Terms have been breached;
  • entries were made in concert with others to circumvent the rules;
  • it would be unlawful to promote the competition to that entrant or award a prize;
  • the entrant has tampered with the competition, site or app;
  • inappropriate, offensive or unlawful content has been posted in connection with the Promoter’s pages or platforms.

Refunds will only be given in exceptional cases at the Promoter’s discretion. No refund will usually be given where:

  • the entrant later discovers they were ineligible;
  • the entrant is disqualified under these Terms.

Entrants may enter a competition multiple times until any per-user or total competition cap is reached.

Only one account per household is permitted.

Recurring billing does not override eligibility rules. If a subscriber becomes ineligible, the Promoter may cancel the subscription and disqualify entries without refund.

7. The Prize

Each competition may offer one or more prizes, as described on the relevant website/app page.

  • Non-cash prizes are subject to availability.
  • The Promoter may substitute a prize with one of equal or greater value.
  • The Promoter does not guarantee the accuracy, condition, completeness or current nature of prize information shown on the website/app.

Where the prize is a vehicle:

  • it will, unless stated otherwise, have a valid MOT where required;
  • insurance is not included;
  • vehicle tax is not included;
  • responsibility passes to the winner after delivery;
  • the winner is responsible for lawful and safe use, including safety equipment where appropriate.

Additional conditions may apply to specific non-cash prizes and will be set out on the relevant competition page.

Prizes may be supplied by third-party suppliers.

The Promoter may substitute a cash alternative where:

  • the original prize is unavailable; or
  • circumstances outside the Promoter’s control make substitution necessary.

Prizes are not transferable or negotiable.

Any costs not expressly included in the prize are the responsibility of the winner.

8. Winners

  • The Promoter’s decision is final.
  • For live draw-based competitions, the winner’s full name may be announced during the live draw.
  • Winners of draw-based competitions will be contacted as soon as reasonably practicable using the details provided.
  • Winners of Instant Win Competitions will be notified by email and must follow the instructions given in order to claim the prize.
  • Site credit prizes may be applied automatically.
  • Winners of Instant Reveal Promotions will be shown the outcome on screen immediately, and may also receive an email with further claim instructions where needed.

If a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 21 days, the Promoter may select an alternate winner using the same method from the remaining valid entries. This process may continue until a prize is accepted.

For prizes above a value determined by the Promoter, the winner may be required to provide valid proof of identity and address matching their registered details.

If that is not provided within 21 days of acceptance, the Promoter may investigate further and may offer the prize to an alternate winner if identity cannot be verified within 3 months of the draw.

The Promoter may publish the full name of major prize winners on the website/app in order to demonstrate that a genuine award has taken place, unless the winner objects before the Closing Date.

Even where publication is objected to, the Promoter may still be required to provide winner information to the Advertising Standards Authority or another regulator on request.

9. Claiming the Prize

  • Prizes must be claimed personally and may not be claimed by a third party on the winner’s behalf.
  • If personal details change, including contact information, the entrant should notify the Promoter as soon as possible via Legal@PrizeRunner.com.
  • If details change within 10 days of the Closing Date, the Promoter may still use the old details to attempt contact.

Before any prize is paid or delivered, the Promoter may validate the entry in accordance with its procedures.

A competition entry may be treated as invalid if:

  • it fails validation or security checks;
  • the assigned ticket does not match official records;
  • the ticket has already been used to claim a prize;
  • the entry was defective, deceptive or fraudulent;
  • the entrant knew or should have known that an instant win game was malfunctioning;
  • due to technical fault or human error, the displayed outcome does not match the predetermined system outcome;
  • due to technical fault or human error, prize distribution, number, value or RTP materially differs from the published game description.

If an entry is declared invalid because of a technical fault or human error of the kind above, the Promoter will either:

  • pay the prize value minus any excess caused by the fault; or
  • refund the entry fee,

whichever is greater.

If an entrant believes they were deprived of a prize due to such an error, they may notify the Promoter, who will investigate and, if appropriate, make payment after deducting any amount already received.

Instant win games are games of chance. Outcomes are predetermined at the time of entry and are not affected by skill, judgement or interaction with the reveal animation.

Cash prizes will be paid into a nominated bank account. The winner may be required to show that they are the sole or joint beneficiary of that account. Failure to provide this within 21 days may result in disqualification.

The Promoter is not responsible if a winner does not or cannot take up the prize.

For vehicle prizes, once eligibility checks are completed, transfer may be carried out using the V5 process after handover.

10. Limitation of Liability

If the Promoter breaches these Terms or acts negligently, it will be responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of that breach or negligence.

It will not be responsible for losses that are not foreseeable.

11. Data Protection and Publicity

By entering, you agree that personal data supplied in connection with the competition may be used by the Promoter, its agents and suppliers for:

  • administering the competition;
  • delivering prizes; and
  • informing entrants about future competitions or schedules,

as set out in the Privacy Policy.

Any content submitted may be used by the Promoter for reasonable publicity purposes. If you do not wish to take part in publicity, you must inform the Promoter. This will not affect your chances of winning.

Under applicable data protection law, you may request that the Promoter:

  • stops contacting you; and
  • removes your details from its database.

If such a request prevents the Promoter from contacting you about a prize, you may be treated as withdrawing from the competition and no refund will be due.

To opt out of promotional use of your personal details, contact:

Legal@PrizeRunner.com

12. General

  • The Promoter may update these Terms from time to time.
  • The latest version will be made available on the website/app.
  • For Instant Reveal Promotions, any additional rules displayed on the relevant promotion page also form part of these Terms.
  • If the Promoter believes these Terms have been breached, it may exclude an entrant from the relevant competition and future competitions.
  • The Promoter may cancel, suspend, void or amend a competition where circumstances beyond its control make this unavoidable.

If a competition is cancelled:

  • entry fees will be refunded; and
  • the Promoter will have no further liability beyond that refund.

Competitions are not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with:

  • Meta;
  • Apple; or
  • Google.

By entering, entrants agree that these parties bear no responsibility for the competitions.

These Terms are governed by English law, but consumers will also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which they reside.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over claims arising under these Terms, although residents of an EU country may be entitled to bring proceedings in their local courts.

Entrants should keep a copy of these Terms for their records.
